Youth Chorus Musical Director
Ben is thrilled to be working with such a talented group of young people, and shares their passion for singing. Ben’s musical background includes high school studies in trumpet, piano, voice, conducting and composition. A piece that Ben wrote was performed in the 2001 Barossa Music Festival by a London-based piano trio. Ben has performed in numerous choirs and vocal ensembles in the Barossa Valley, Adelaide and Canberra, and since 2008, with the Melbourne Gay and Lesbian Chorus. In 2010, Ben completed a Graduate Diploma in Music at the University of Queensland with a specialization in choral pedagogy.
Ben was appointed MD of the Youth Chorus in June 2009, and led the youth chorus for its inaugural stand-alone show in 2010. Ben studied international politics and German at university, and by day he works in a related field.
